2008 Could be The Year Bloggers Make Money

PCMech isn’t about blogging, and I know that. Surveys I have run in the past have always shown that many of PCMech’s readers just don’t care about blogging. Perhaps you don’t really understand it? Are you aware that PCMech itself is a blog?

Perhaps it might interest you that the Wall Street Journal posted a story about how new services are gearing up to potentially bring in ad revenue to bloggers in 2008.

There are some notable blogs that have been making money for awhile. I pride myself in the fact that I have managed to support my family and work from home solely by blogging here at PCMech. Yes, it can be done. I am proof.

According to the story on WSJ, audio and video ads could be big in 2008. A new company called V2P Communications is, for example, offering 5-8 second audio ads that will play automatically when a person lands on a blog or website. As the story puts it:

Publishers sign up for the free service and V2P then lines up advertisers, who bid on rates they will pay to have their ads played on a given blog. Bids generally start around $14 per 1,000 plays. Blog publishers get a 25% cut of the ad revenue.

The story goes on to talk about some notable bloggers who are making good money online. Rhett Butler, of MongaBay.com, is making $15,000 – $18,000 per month from Google’s Adsense program on his blog. Darren Rowse, from ProBlogger, brought in roughly $250K in 2007 by blogging. I am a reader of Darren’s website, too, and I highly recommend it if you’re interested in this subject.

I, myself, managed to generate a six-figure income last year by blogging and a few other things. Despite my story about a coming 2008 recession, realize that there is always opportunity out there. It is all about offering value. I believe I offer something of value to my readers here on PCMech. When you do that, good things happen.

Short PCMech EDU Plug

Despite the few blogging success stories, most don’t make enough money to live from. Most bloggers are making less than $100 per month. One of the courses I will be offering in the new PCMech EDU program is how to make money online. I will talk about blogging, ecommerce, affiliate programs, all of it. I am VERY well versed in the subject of the Internet. And more importantly….

I am DEDICATED to making the PCMech EDU program something of real value to members. Yes, there’s going to plenty for those of you who want to be more computer savvy and learn solutions. After all, that is what put PCMech on the map to begin with. But, there is nothing more rewarding in the tech world than being able to make money doing what you love – using the computer, your gadgets and the Internet. That is real value. Money in your pocket.

The new PCMech EDU project is under way. We still have a lot to do, and that work will continue way past the scheduled launch. But, if you’re interested in learning, among other things, how I have managed to create a site like PCMech, you’ll want to enroll in our program.
