HP these days is making some pretty good full-size laptops these days. Compared to just a few years ago, a lot more attention is being given to build quality both on the inside and outside. If you haven’t checked out HP laptops recently, here are 3 for under $500 that are worth a look:
Note that all these laptops have 15.6-inch screens at 1366×768 resolution.
HP ProBook 4530s
Price: $485
Has Core i3, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 340GB HDD, Windows 7 64-bit and additional fingerprint sensor.
HP ProBook 4525s
Price: $435
Like the 4530 but in a 32-bit flavor (attractive to those who require 32-bit environments to run older apps). AMD Athlon II Dual-Core, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD.
HP g6-1b60us
Price: $450
The big sell on this one is the hard drive. 500GB – stock. AMD A-Series A4-3300M 1.9GHz, 4GB RAM, 64-bit Windows 7, 7-hour battery.

Very tempting, as long as HP makes the stuff. But I bought a G60 at that price level only two years ago, and it should last some more.
I don’t know about that one Rich. They have been making garbage laptops for the past 5 years or more. I am a little skeptical. You do spark my curiosity though, will have to give them a second look and a little investigation.
How is their customer support? That counts as well…bigtime.
