For those of you who host your own blog, it is important to be aware of security issues with the software you are using. Since the seemingly most popular blog packages (WordPress and Joomla to name a few) run on PHP with a MySQL backend, keeping up with respective infrastructure updates is key to making sure your site is safe from exploits.
To help with news updates, a site to check out is BlogSecurity. While focus is primarily on WordPress, the site posts notifications about the supporting software packages as well which are common when running this platform.
BlogSecurity appears to be updated only when there is actual news, so you will not be ‘overloaded’ with a bunch of posts. This is a very easy way to keep tabs on what might be a risk to your system without having to spend a bunch of time researching.
