Recently, I purchased
an  Addtronics C6896A full tower case. Having heard great things about Addtronics cases I decided to
order one for my new system.Let’s
see what the case has to offer:

Features:

The first thing I noticed when I got this case was how easy it
is to open.You
just grab hold of the bottom of the front bezel and pull it
right off without needing a lot of strength. To
get inside the case you just loosen 2 screws on either side
along the outside of the case and you can open the doors.
Yes, I said doors!They
swing open to almost 90 degrees each.
If you want to remove them all you do is lift the doors
slight and pull them out backwards.
Putting them back on is easy as well.
The top comes off by removing 4 screws, 2 in the front, and 2
in the back.   Once
inside I noticed no sharp edges, everything was nice and
smooth.

Now let’s take a look at the inside. Hey overclocker and SCSI fans, this is a case for you!!! The cooling options in this thing are just outstanding!!! You get 3 fan bracketsto
put 8cm fans in the front and one spot for a 6cm fan in the back close to where the CPU sits. What I’m really excited about though, is the 2 spots to put 8cm fans on each side of the 5.25” bays. This is a definite plus for people who use SCSI devices
because it will make cooling your devices a whole a lot better and
more efficient. On a last note before I go on, there is also a
grilled opening in the back to help exhaust hot air, yet another
plus for this case.

Now I’ll talk about mounting drives and the drive bays themselves.
First of you get
driverails to mount CD-ROMs, etc inside the 5.25” bays. I think this is a nice feature since it makes installing
devices a whole lot easier.Addtronics
also gets brownie points for making a removable 3.5” drive rack
that can either be placed in the middle over the mother board or in
front of the case by one of the 8cm fan brackets! Looks like cooling your hardrive is not a problem in this
case!Of course you can
buy an extra rack and place one in the front and one in the middle
over the motherboard.Now
Addtronics also includes the necessary hardware to mount a 3.5”
drive in a 5.25” bay, as the matter of fact the hardware was already mounted in the case when I received it, but of
course it can be removed to mount a 5.25” drive. There are metal slot guards for 2 of the 3 5.25” bays, one
was already removed.Although

if you don’t like where Addtronics removed the metal slot guard
you can unscrew one of the other ones and put it in its place, they
are no pop-outs. The metal slot guard for 3.5” bay just needs to be pushed

out, it isn’t held together by any screws. The plastic guards on the bezel just pop out. Also there are more than enough screws included with the
case, in case you don’t have enough for all your drives.

One more big plus for this case is its removable motherboard tray. It is removed by removing two screws in the back and two on
the side.Once removed
the tray slides out.

The Bad

Although there isn’t really anything bad about this case there are
a couple things that I think could be better. First of all, Addtronics put a 5.25” drive bay right above
the power supply, not a good idea in my opinion. Also the manual included with the case is awful slim, it
could be a little more thorough. Plus at $144 this case is definitely no cheapie.

Conclusion

In Summary, the Addtronics C6896A is a quality case with super
features such as outstanding cooling options, room for expansion,
and is very user-friendly.A
little bit pricey at $144, but if you want a super case it’s worth
taking look into.
