Adobe Flash Player 11.2 Has Silent Updates – Here’s How To Turn That Off

The newest Flash Player 11.2 has introduced with it silent updates, meaning an updater periodically checks and updates itself silently, meaning you’re never notified when it happens. Some people appreciate this but there are many that don’t.

Fortunately, the Flash Player installer asks you right up front if you want the silent updates to happen or not:

The default option is "automatic", but you can opt to choose "notify me" or "never" as shown above instead if you wish.

Note to Google Chrome users: Chrome auto-updates itself silently which includes Flash, so you don’t need to do any of this as all Chrome updating is silent (with no option to notify otherwise).

Given Flash’s vulnerability to malware, I would let it auto update.
