In Firefox I use the built in password manager with a master password set for protection. For whatever reason, however, some sites will not allow me to save my password information. One example that I deal with is Paypal which stores the user name, but never the password. A fix for this is explained here.
By running the javascript on the problem page prior to entering your password, the flag which tells Firefox not to save the password is removed. I tested this on Paypal and once I entered the password and then logged in, Firefox asked me to remember the password. When I login now, the password is saved. One thing I have noticed is that in order for the password to populate, you have to first put the cursor in the user name box and then hit tab and then the password appears. This is minor inconvenience is well worth the functionality this adds.
While I have confirmed this works on Paypal, are there any sites you use which enable the save password functionality? If so, share in the comments.
