Most of the top level menus (i.e. File, View, Help, etc.) can be expanded/accessed via a key combination. This can come in handy when dealing with applications where you are typing most of the time, such as email or word processing. The problem is, Windows has the feature which underlines the magic Alt key combination to press to expand the menu. When the option feature is on, you will see an underlined letter on each menu which, when pressed together with the Alt key will expand the menu or select the menu option.
Here is how to enable this feature: Control Panel > Display > Appearance > Effects > Hide underlined… until I press the Alt key (uncheck this option)
