One aspect of journalism is 'reporting'--which has its own set of stringent rules and incorporating 'opinions' is not one of them. Only available on the internet versions of print and broadcast media.
What blogger reports on fires, local crime etc. and if they did, could you trust them?
This whole thing is really a waste of time. PC Mech fits neatly into the old concept of trade journalism. You just have to prove we can trust you--over and over again.JFJ

Can understand the positions. But the one element missing in here is ‘news’. Compared to "traditional" media, sure. But the current incarnation of Old Media is just as opinionated as a lot of bloggers, they just profess otherwise. Just watch the "news"...at least half of it is not news, it is opinion or speculation.

While it seems New Media is more “opinionated”, I’m not sure that’s actually the case. How many bloggers visit a soup kitchen for dinner?

The biggest difference between online and traditional journalists, are you reimbursed for your efforts? And I wrote about the differences in one of my very early posts. I don't want to simply drop a link on here, but my summary was that I'm much happier as a blogger!Blogging is faster, more opinionated, you get instant reaction from your readers and you can reach millions instead of thousands.

Interesting this Rich.
