Are Fake Home Security Systems Just As Good As Real Ones?

Home security isn’t cheap and never has been, and this is why people look into fake security alternatives.

But does it work?

That answer depends on what the fake security is and how it’s applied.

Here are a few of the more popular fake security items out there.

Fake “Protected By” stickers

This is a fake security item that people have been using for decades. As far as whether they work or not, it’s unlikely they would because a thief isn’t going to be checking for stickers at night.

Fake dome security camera with blinking red light

These are much more effective than stickers because they have a light that blinks which can be seen easily at night. Some of the more advanced fake security cams even have a motion sensor where the light only starts blinking when something is moving in the sensor’s range.

The best placement for one of these is inside next to a window. If mounted externally, a smarter thief would grab the camera to check for himself whether it’s fake or not, but when behind glass, the only way to check is to break the window.

If you’re going to mount a fake security cam outside, it might as well be something very obvious and difficult to inspect for authenticity. This one has the blinking light and a plate mount you can drill into the side of the house (or porch or door overhang or whatever).

A thief would literally have to take out the screws or rip the cam off to see if this was real or not, so it’s fairly effective.

Laserscan Deterrent System

This product, admittedly, is really ridiculous. And not cheap.

Basically what this product does is put on a laser light show just like you’d see in a James Bond movie. Beams move around the room “scanning” for intruders. Yes, really. I don’t think a thief would think for a second this is real, because who would put scanning beams in their living room (seriously)?

Yes, the product is real.

  1. Most people can’t afford everything but as
what a popular adage says, “Money is no object”. Yes, especially when it comes to protecting
your home and your family. So there’s no excuse in buying an original home security system/ device.
