When building your own PC, you should take the time to go through each component and record the serial number and model before installing it into your PC. Many people do not know what the innards of their computer consist of. When they need to request support or download a manual, they don’t know what to do. If the support guy asks what model you have and you don’t know, you look pretty foolish. Most hardware (unless it is extremely generic) will have a manufacturer and model number printed on it. Write this as well as the serial number down. Keep this in a safe place. In fact, once you’ve finished building your rig, record this info in a text file so you have it digitally as well.
