Backup File Checklist

We have constantly pounded home the need for a backup strategy for your computer. It doesn’t hit home to some people until their PC goes down and they can’t get to their data. But, in setting up your backup strategy, you need to concentrate on backing up certain things which are harder to replace. Here is a reference list:

  1. Office documents. This includes any spreadsheets, Word documents, PDFs, etc.
  2. Emails
  3. Digital photos and artwork.
  4. Movie files that you wish to keep.
  5. Music files such as MP3s.
  6. Bookmarks/Favorites.
  7. All downloaded programs that you might have a hard time finding again on the internet.
  8. Any saved games you may have.
  9. Your passwords and security codes.
  10. Activation codes for software that you purchased online.
  11. Internet chat logs and contact lists.

You may have other items, too, depending on how you use your PC.
