The online office suite office.live.com is available right now to anyone who wants to use it. One of the apps available within the suite is Excel Web App. It’s watered down compared to the full-installed Excel or OpenOffice.org Calc, however it does get the job done as long as you know the basics.
Something which would otherwise be unknown unless you see it (which you do in the video) is how to use functions such as SUM or DATE. It’s a bit different from the way you would use it in the actual program, but once you see how it’s done you can get started with it right away.
Note: Excel Web App is not a replacement for the full Excel or alternative like OpenOffice.org Calc, but if you need a quick spreadsheet editor in a pinch, it’s good to know how to use it.

I was recently hired and the company I am now working leans into open applications like open office. Having been accustomed to ms excel, I am adjusting to using open calc.
But as you pointed out, I can use excel online. I hope this is free and would not require super fast internet connection to be accessed.
