As is, the Windows Explorer File menu is pretty mundane with only the most basic options which you probably don’t even notice (open, copy, paste, etc.). So to make this menu a bit more relevant and add some features you may find useful, check out the freeware utility FileMenu Tools:
FileMenu Tools allows you to customise the context menu of Windows Explorer. And it lets you:
- Add some built-in utilities that perform operations on files and folders.
- Add customised commands which run external applications, copy/move to a specific folder or delete specific file types.
- Configure the "Send to…" submenu.
- Enable/disable commands which are added by other applications to the context menu.
The built-in functions offered by this tool can be found elsewhere in other various freeware utilities, but having the convenience of optionally enabling them utilizing a single application can be very handy. Their page has a full list of commands and functions added, many of which I can see being relevant for the "average user" (i.e. Find And Replace, Copy Name).
Take a quick look at this and if you see a function you like, give it a try.
