- General Gaming: Are you going to use your computer for low- to mid-end gaming. The games in this category don’t require any specialty rendering or a high resolution monitor. An average graphic card can usually handle this type of gaming. A general gaming PC would often fit in the Moderate price range discussed above.
- Advanced Gaming: Are you going to use your system for mid- or lower high-end gaming? The games in this category will usually require some specialty rendering or graphics settings, and possibly a high resolution monitor. An Advanced Gaming PC would most likely fit into the Moderate or more likely into the High price range.
- Super Gaming: Are you planning on using your system for High- or Very-high end gaming? Games in this category will require a very good graphics card, specialty graphics rendering and high resolution. A super gaming PC would more than likely fit into the Great or Ideal price range. A very, very good graphics card is required to play some of the new first person shooter games, such as the new half-life game which could require a $400 graphic card.
- General Purpose: A general purpose PC is usually used for home, or family use. A number of users may be using this one computer. This is the most common type of computer sought out. A large hard drive is usually required to accommodate many users, but this is not always the case. You’ll have to judge your own situation here. This is by far the most affordable type of PC one could build. With a decent sized hard drive, a decent processor and some peripheral devices this type of PC could run from Minimal to Moderate price ranges depending upon the operating system one plans to be using.
- Overclocking System: By no means should anyone attempt this type of system as their first, especially if their current PC is near death. This type of PC is built by very experienced tech savvy people with a large pocket book and a lot of knowledge of the workings of a PC. Tech-heads, as they call them, often go all out and build their ideal ‘OC-ing’ system, with phenomenally fast processors, a gigabyte or so of RAM and a lot of brains. The price range for this type of PC runs from Great to Ideal. I merely note it so that it is not neglected or attempted by the inexperienced. - High-End PC: You want to do everything with this PC, from general purpose to high-end gaming. You want this thing to go faster than the blink of an eye! This will run you a lot of money in every possible scenario. It would require high-end peripherals, high-end graphic card, super fast processor, large hard drive and a Gig’ or so of RAM! A generally ‘high-end’ always enters the Ideal price range.
