Think the floppy disk is dead technology?

OpenOffice 3… floppy disk!

Google Docs.. floppy disk again!

Windows Live Writer… FLOPPY DISK!

ThinkFree.. ACK! FLOPPY DISK AGAIN!

You cannot escape the floppy..

I think it’s about time to.. oh, I dunno.. change the save icon to something besides a 3.5-inch floppy diskette.

I like the floppy icons, it doesn’t bother me that they’re there. However, what would they be replaced with. The floppies are the standard, anyone easily figure out how to save in any app thanks to that little, ancient icon. What else could do that???

hahaha Love this post. Simple, to the point and yet totally effective.
Changing it could cause a lot of confusion though. Besides, a floppy disk icon is more distinctive than a USB flash drive icon, don’t you think?

It would be like changing the word “ketchup” to “red sauce”. I think the floppy icon is firmly entrenched. You have too much time on your hands, haha.

The scissors need to go, too. I think it has been literally years since I have cut something out of a piece of paper. Scissors are for opening blister packs.

I could go on… they’re *icons*, not meant to be literal representations of the task!
