Buff Your Screen

Inline with yesterday’s cleaning tip, I offer you another: buff your screen. Sometimes people use their CRTs or LCDs for years and not even notice that they are peering right through a huge layer of dust. ITs very easly to clean. You don’t want to use just any cleaner, though. Your CRT might look like glass on the front, but directly spraying Windex is not a good idea because it could find its way into the inside of the monitor and cause damage. Instead, you can use a light spray of Windex onto a soft cloth and then use that to clean your screen. You can use water if you wish, but again, make sure the cloth is only slightly damp. You don’t want any running of the water down the sides of the screen. With LCDs, use a cloth lightly dampened with water, and make sure you do not press too hard when cleaning the screen. You might see a little bit of picture warp as you press into the screen, but do it as lightly as possible in order to minimize this.
