Businesses: Use A Professional Email Address

Posted Feb 1, 2008 | by Jason Faulkner

If you run a business of any size, from a full-time self employed to a “this and that” side gig, looking professional is very important. On that note, one of the simplest and important things you can do is having a professional email address: yourname@yourbusiness.com.

Nothing is more unappealing than using an @aol.com/@yahoo.com/etc. address when you could be using @yourbusiness.com. Domain names are cheap (~$10/year) and email hosting is cheap (you can find it for ~$50/year or less), so there is no reason not to have it.

To put it simply, which business would you take more seriously:

  • jdoe@mybusiness.com
  • john2414@yahoo.com

Or even more importantly, which one of the above are your clients going to take more seriously?

Which Of These Traits Applies To YOUR Computing Life?...
