By The Numbers: The Costs of Gaming (Bundles)

It’s been a while since any new gaming console has been introduced to the market, so let’s see how much it costs for a console right now.

At the present time, retailers are now featuring "bundles" for gaming consoles. This is a time-honored sales tradition when the console-alone sales drop.

Sometimes you get more for the money with a bundle purchase and other times not.

Nintendo Wii

Wii bundles include the system, remote controller, nunchuck, stand, sensor, charge station and other goodies.

One such example is the Nintendo Wii Family Bundle.

Depending on what retailer you buy it from, the cost is from $435 to $475.

Microsoft Xbox 360

Microsoft has several bundle offerings of their own starting at $279. Several retailers have taken to offering a Zune player with the purchase in a further attempt to market the portable music player no one wants.

Sony Playstation 3

The current offerings you can buy for PS bundle-packs are nice but don’t really give you much in respect to what Nintendo and Microsoft can. If for example you bought the 80GB PS3 with MotorStorm, that’s $500. If you’re saying to yourself "Um.. that’s it?" Yep, that’s it; that’s all you get.

Sony Playstation 2

This is the best bang-for-the-buck system you can buy right now. Even though the bundles aren’t that great, the $129.00 price tag is very nice.

Yes, it’s old, out-of-date, obsolete, etc. But there are plenty of games available and the system has all the bugs worked out of it with the "redesign" model.

. . .

If you were in the market for a new console, the numbers are about the best you can get right now. February is usually a really crappy month for retailers concerning gaming and this is to your advantage. Even though the after-Christmas stock has already been flushed out, retailers still have to make sales so it’s a good time to grab a deal if you’re in the market for it.
