"Cartoon" Yourself The Easy Way With Cartoonize

a364648a220fa155dc6b6f1f42abe955638544-finalOne of the best avatars (for use in social profiles, forums, etc.) you could ever use is a photo of yourself. However it’s generally true people don’t like the way they look, but consider it okay if the photo has been "cartoonized". Fortunately there’s a web site, Cartoonize, that will exactly do just that.

At right is a crappy photo of yours truly that I took with my webcam. I uploaded that to Cartoonize and it turned a crappy photo into something I could use as an avatar.

The photo was obviously too large for avatar use, so I needed quick way to resize it. This wasn’t a problem with ResizeYourImage. I set a forum-friendly size of 100×100, then just zoomed back and adjusted the box appropriately:

Resulting in this:

100x100

Done and done.

I gave it a try, but mine came out really weird looking xD

The original photo was really bright and that’s why Cartoonize didn’t do too much with it. You need to pick something that’s lit more evenly – or purposely edit the original and knock the brightness down a bit.

Rich, that’s really cool. I sent it to my wife, I’m sure she’ll love it. Thanks.

How do I make that my avatar? Oh nevermind, I’ll figure it out.

On PCMech’s comment system (Disqus) you have 6 ways of going about it. At the top of this comment thread is a DISQUS button. You click that to login, then either choose one of the six: 1. Disqus account, 2. Google account, 3. Twitter account, 4. Facebook account, 5. Yahoo! account, 6. OpenID account. Whichever system you pick, the avatar you currently have for that account will show up next to your comment. If unsure which to go with, get a Disqus account; they’re free.

I just paid $ 23.86 for an iPhone and my girlfriend loves her Dell laptop that we got for $ 38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 42 inch LED TV to my boss for $ 665 which only cost me $ 62,81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, GrabPenny.com
