Chris Pirillo has seen it fit to directly poke fun at his own community – even though he touts that everyone is invited and all are welcome should they wish to discuss technology.
In one of Chris’ latest blog articles, he directly names people by their usernames just to substantiate his pseudo-stalwart defense of Apple. He was addressing users of another blog, but these are the same people who come to Chris’ own site.
Chris stated verbatim that a user by the name of “esteban” was a “…13 year-old Digg user who has never purchased his own machine, pirates all his software, and brags about his FPS in random gaming forums”. Good job, Chris! That’s a great way of educating your own community!
Next he goes on to bash Balboa Peterson by saying “Oh, god… where do I begin with this child?” Wow, Chris.
To anyone who’s watched Chris’ Ustream channel, one wonders why he uses Windows Vista at all. He continually champions OS X and Apple at any given instance and more or less ignores Windows users entirely. If anyone dares mention Windows in his chat room they are instantly blasted with “Get a Mac! Get a Mac! Get a Mac!” His chat room is supposedly for tech help. Honestly said: Don’t go there unless you think Steve Jobs is the best thing since cushioned toilet seats, otherwise you’re doomed to encounter the b.s. spewed forth by Mac zealots and will receive no help whatsoever.
Chris, if you think you’re so great that you can openly bash people in your own community who don’t use Apple computers with OS X – stop using Windows and stop talking about it. Let those of us with a truly helpful nature assist people who use that OS instead of adhering to Apple dogma.
And yes, that means get rid of all your Windows machines. If you’re so hot on Apple, take your own advice and make the leap yourself instead of trashing your own community. You talk the talk, but you don’t walk the walk. Either get busy throwing all your Windows machines in the trash or, as the majority of the Mac zealots in your chat room most often say to Windows users, STFU.

While the above was written by Rich, I admit I was surprised to see your rant so personally ripping computer users like that. Listen, Chris, you have been using Windows almost your entire computing life. You built up Lockergnome itself by recommending things to WINDOWS users. For you to so openly bash Windows users is not only kicking the ass of the people who built you up, but it reeks of hypocrisy. I respect you highly, Chris, and you do good work. But, that is very disappointing, and is one of the MAJOR reasons a lot of Windows users beware of using the Mac.
Chris, you should cover all aspects of technology and HELP people. That includes Apple, Linux and yes, Windows users. If you think Windows users need to seriously consider the Mac, then make it clear why, not bash them over the head with their own supposed stupidity. That’s not help or support.
You might have been addressing visitors of another site, but those are indeed the same people who often come to YOU for help. Don’t bash them. Educate.

I agree with the criticism, however consider that Chris was blunt and obnoxious toward Apple before he “got religion”. PC users loved that attitude. It’s no surprise that now that he is enamored with OS X, he has simply changed the target of his invective.
There’s nothing worse than a recovering WIndows user.
I believe Chris Pirillo never stated that he didn’t have his own opinions. I think in this case it’s a jealousy issue. I don’t own a Mac – maybe someday I will, but I really think, from the tone of this article bashing Chris, that someone is a bit jealous of someone’s life.
See, the thing is, Chris can afford and use any OS he chooses… but he’d prefer to use his Mac – so be it. I think I’ll get one now, just to spite you.
Nice one, Phil. But, jealousy has nothing to do with it. I do the exact same thing for a living that Chris does, so I can’t be jealous of his life. And, by the way, my primary system IS a Mac Pro. I could afford a Mac, I use one, and you still don’t see my openly bashing the users of Windows. Why? Because its stupid and it would insult almost my entire audience.
You know it’s really interesting reading this. I have been going in Chris Pirillo chat room for a few months now on and off. Although I prefer Mac OS X over windows it’s only down to personal choice, I’ve used all versions of Windows (including Vista) and a few distributions of Linux too. One thing Chris never really seems to talk about much at all on his live videos is Linux…why? Could it be to do with the fact it’s an open source OS and isn’t really likely to make him much money — his site is full of annoying adds — or is it to do with the fact he doesn’t know how to use it?
I have to admit, Chris is entertaining to watch and quite funny on times but I can’t help feel he is trying to make a huge mark on the world and overrates himself somewhat! It’s useful for people to have a place to go for answers but not if they are just going to be flamed for mentioning the fact they are using Windows. Maybe it should become an Apple support chat and only then may apple give him the sponsor he really really years for…
David, do not say you do the same thing as Chris. I highly doubt you could ever make as much of an audience or revenue as Chris does. You ARE jealous, and its blatantly obvious.
Neill, think whatever you want, dude. In the meantime, learn to get that giant puckered mouth off Chris’s butt.
hey i use a imac with boot camp but i mainly use windows over mac because its all i ever used but i do use the mac side ever so often but getting back to the subject Chris can be very arrogant towards windows users i watched some of his you tube videos and shook my head i never take his advice seriously and it seems that his opinions only matter gets irate when someone dares mentions that windows is better hes a goofy guy hes needs to take all opinions from all sides not the the damn mac side that’s why i don’t looks at his videos or see him live ..
