CompUSA announced on Friday that they will be closing all of their stores after the holidays, according to a story on CNN. They will hold store-closing sales for the remainder of the season and then cease operations.

This all follows a sale of the company to an affiliate of Gordon Brothers Group, according to the story.

CompUSA has been struggling to stay afloat for many years now. PC prices have been dropping significantly, and stores like Circuit City and Best Buy usually outshine CompUSA when it comes to prices. In my experience, CompUSA usually is the most expensive option in town for computer hardware. The only time I ever go in there is when I need some arcane connector or something not usually carried in a Best Buy. Even then, you can find anything you want on the Internet for much cheaper than a CompUSA store.

If you’re looking for a deal, you might check out your local CompUSA in the coming weeks. They’re going to be trying to get rid of their inventory, and that could mean good deals for you.
