We are going to begin doing giveaways here on PCMech.com. And first things first, I’m going to start unloading some of the hardware I have stocked up around here.
So, here are the requirements to enter our contest giveaway:
- You must be subscribed to our weekly newsletter list. You can subscribe from our newsletters page or via the form to the right. The winner will be announced via this mailing list.
- You must post at least one of the following: (1) a comment on this post, or (2) a comment on this video on Youtube.com, or (3) a video response on this video on Youtube. Your entry must answer the following question:
“Why Do You Want To Win This Giveaway?”
I will take each of the answers to this question and choose the one I like best. So, be creative and let’s have some fun with it.
You can view more details on the prize by visiting the Nzxt Tempest product page.
I will announce the winner in two weeks. More specifically, on October 1st, 2008. I will cover shipping expenses to ship this case to you, so it is indeed a giveaway.
May the best geek win!

David Risley is the founder of PCMech.com. He is the brains, the thinker, the writer, the nerd.
Nice Idea about that!
This is exactly what I am waiting for, to test my self if I can really build my own PC for the very first time. I really owned a 4 yr old PC (OS: Windows XP SP2, Proc: Intel Pentium 4, with only 40 GB of HDD and a 128 RAM installed on it).If you grant my wish as to be the “winner” of this “giveaway”, this is gonna be my FIRST STEP in building my next PC (As you can see the specs of my current PC, it is now my time to upgrade). This is really a great opportunity to owned that nice looking case.
I do a lot of free work for elderly and disabled persons on very limited budgets. I keep their computers running by using parts from old computers and my junk drawer. Some of them could really use an upgrade. they are running old cast offs. If any of you have older computers that might help these folks, I sure would like to have them. The computer you will retire when you win this case would probably be a lot better than the one they have now.
Why?I think because of the competition. The most I like in a competition are the concurence,it means that the contest is interesting and trains people in it.I don’t expect to win no way sir!!I just wrote this cause I love contests but never had enough luck to win. So,Dave I hope you’ll enjoy the comment and your newsletters are more interesting day by day.Good-luck with the contest causeI’m a Newbie!!!
As a fledgling geek, I am learning how to build computers. Using them is not so hard but building is challenging. I’ve been taking old computers apart and putting them back together. A case like that would be a great start to my own creation and all it would need is a few WOW emblems (horde rules!!!!)
Reading all these posts is a hoot. As “Drew” mentioned above, people do respond when there’s something being given away (or free) Not a bad thing really, we probably all do it. I don’t need the case–but I do see a few comments from some folks who do. I felt guilty about reading many posts and then not commenting–so there you have it. May the most deserving party win! (I’m glad I don’t have to make the call, David!)
Dear Dave,
In response to “Why Do You Want To Win This Giveaway?”Well Dave you have been very active in trying to get me to be more committed to the top subscription you have and all the perks that come with that commitment. You see by Winning this giveaway I just might be convinced to get off the fence and get my feet wet and feel the need to buy the build your own Computer book and DVD and stop being just a lurking looky loo.Everyone like free giveaways Dave,It adds more sizzle to your site.Mike
I would like to win as it is a great looking case it is the right price (free)which is the right price for anything when your on a disability pension especialy in Australia which also makes it impossible for me to win as it would cost to much to send but your site is great and I have many helpful tips from it THANKYOU VERY MUCH.
Hi
Have been reading the posts and find I am not the only “senior would-be geek” oout there. Good luck to everyone. p.s. I am trying to convince my husband to let me build “my own” and this might help. Thanks anyway.

I need this case to build the computer wich I intend to use to automate many functions on my own house.
Grat looking case!
I need a new case. I am My current case is fully loaded and I need more room. Besides it looks ugly!
Great newsletters!

hello
I have just completed my first computer (with an Antec 900 case)
as i was playing Halo 2 and drinking coffee, i put my coffee in the holding section of the case…and I got a little too excited and kinda kicked my computer (more like a nudge with my foot, but strong enough) and the coffee spilled into my case x(
the screen showed a blank screen, but my computer was still on. (being my first computer that i made, i wanted to save it…maybe it wasn’t dead yet?)
i went to the kitchen to grab some paper towel and when i came back, it was dead
it was off so i guess the psu died
i tested the DVD burner, the HDD and some case fans, but they were all dead
i decided to take out the parts and get some new ones while saving whatever i could, but there was another part that was busted
when i spilled the coffee, the CPU fan died, but the computer was still running and the CPU kinda melted or something…it won’t come out of the slot!
so there goes my CPU and the motherboard as well…
the video card does not fit in my other computer so i still have to test it
i think the only part that i saved was the ram x(
I work part time as a computer tech (pulling apart, building, and fixing up computers) and have always wanted to build my own computer to replace the old one I’m running at home… Problem is that I’m a poor college student with a pregnant wife, so everything I make goes to paying for school, living, my wife, my future child, and getting out of our current credit card debt… I’ve been slowly collecting parts hoping to one day be able to put them together, and just this week I actually started looking online at various computer cases to see what they’re going to cost me.
Winning this contest is more than just to have bragging rights and say that I won. It would bring me that much closer to fulfilling a dream and save me the much needed money that I would otherwise have to spend to buy a case.
This case would fit nicely with the other hardware I am compiling. Add this as a finishing touch, and presto, a computer is born.
I have never win anything
I am a 74 year old man who is teaching other seniors about what is inside a computer through an organization called OASIS. We disect an old computer and I explain what each part does, where it goes, and how to connect it. The response to this is the number of students has doubled siince the first course was taught. The only thing I have never done, is build my own computer. It would be an interesting project to show those seniors that are interested. No gaming however, just a good computer to work with.
So I always help one of my professors with tech stuff around the building and so he recently gave me an old GX280 to take and fix up. It’s a decent computer; the processor is not bad at least. It’s a 2.8GHz P4 with 1MB of L2 Cache and Hyper-Threading (so it’s *almost* considered dual-core). Other than that, the computer isn’t great. 512MB of RAM, no video card, one PCI-E (1.1) slot & one AGP slot, no hard drive, a CD-ROM drive… you get the idea. So I’m going to fix it up (really I’ll end up replacing everything other than the processor), get it a couple of hard drives, a screamer video card, one of those sharp Creativ sound cards designed for gamers, 4 gigs of RAM, a new motherboard, a “real” monitor, and a new PSU that can actually run all that (160W right now!). But how on Earth am I going to fit all that in the Small Form Factor case? The case, when put on it’s side, is smaller than the CRT monitor I put on top of it! There is only one hard drive slot and there’s no way it can accompany the graphics card I’m planning on. So, I think you’ve guessed what I’m getting to now. I need a case with space and cooling (and that gamer shine
) like that one for my new dream machine.
During the past 3 years I have built 2 Systems thanks to you. They perform as well as I could expect. I purchased the cases for $35 each from Frys. They have 350 W power supplies and 2 fans including the power supply fan. Every so often they power themselves down to cool off. The case you are giving away would allow me to upgrade one of my systems so that I could stop dreaming about the system I would like to purchase but do not have the cash to buy!
Listen, I have to be honest — I like that case, but I don’t need it. Sure, I want it, but reading the above posts, I must admit my comment will be faded in comparison.
I’ve only got my honesty.
No, I don’t need a case, but I need PCMech. I need help because I’m the de facto tech at my mom’n'pop job. I’ll be setting up a new network and online ordering and website jive.
I know nothing of this. I only know how to build a pc. I learned how from PCMech. I still come begging for help with each new build.
So, give me that case if you want, but you’ll be suffering my foolishness a heckuva lot, in the very near future.
It would be great to win this case because I would then have a place for these spare parts that I have!
Or winning could mean I would have an excuse to buy some new parts and finally build a really good system instead of using spare, discount, and used parts.
Hello PCMech (David Risley)
The case looks really cool. With this case it would be the first item in building a new pc. With all the fans it has i wouldn’t have to get the water cooling i been thinking about getting when i order everything.

Two years ago, I became tired of having to go to other people to repair or update my PC’s. I began to read six different PC magazines, and now subscribe to five of them. I prefer to fix software and hardware problems myself so that I know no one is extracting personal info, or loading spyware onto my machines. I have been collecting parts to build two computers. It has become a fun hobby. And, it could possibly become a different career, or lead to starting my own web-based business.
Well I was in a motorcycle wreck and basically landed out of work. I then started to build computers from home to sell on ebay and craigslist and such. Well my funds have ran extremely low due to my newborn and I cannot fully fund my next build (which is basically my income) without finding ways to save money. Lets face it a free case is a great start. I just hope I win so I can keep this thing going here and continue to make the money and run the house man. Sure it sounds sappy but hey its the only reason man.
That looks like a really nice case and I sure could use it! The side window with fan is the main selling point for me. I do play games, mainly WoW right now, and the computer case I have is an older one with a solid side panel. That tended to build up heat, so I’ve been running it with the side panel open. As it turned out, that was a BAD choice when it was sitting on the floor under the desk. Why? My old tom cat didn’t like the computer I guess. I discovered he had been peeing on the side! Ewwww! Gross! Now the bottom is all rusted out where it sat on the carpet. So, I obviously really NEED this case! I plan to begin a new build soon and a new case is a must. If I get this one free, maybe I can get a better video card than I would otherwise be able to afford.
So, please, please, pick me!
Love your book and CD and your website! I’ve been a reader for years. I don’t know how I would have ever done my first build without you!
Hugs,
Jo
p.s. – I promise to keep this one up on the desk! Lesson learned.
I first stumbled upon PCMech while looking for information on building a PC. Since then I have used a lot of the tips from your site notably, Bill Hely’s “The Hackers Nightmare”, being a complete novice I found this extremely helpful. Now that my confidence is up I would dearly love to test my hands on capability by going that one step further and building my own PC. One can only dream about winning. Anyway David and Rich keep up the fine work.
David
Tomorrow is my birthday (65) (thats just become today, happoy birthday to me and anyone else who shares today) I was thinking it was time I got me a new top dog, home created gamer monster, (something to do on those dark nights) and I have to admit that case would be a good starting place. I dont suppose you have a quad processor and motherboard looking for a good home do you? I have loads of bits about the place having built PCs for other people, and inherited their old bits and bobs, so RAM, hard drives, etc etc arnt to much of a problem, but a case like that, oh boy.
Keep up the good work with the Site and the newsletter, makes good and useful reading for us oldies
good luck
Allan
