If you switched from 98 to XP but failed to convert your file system from FAT to NTFS, it is very easy to do so. (Reminder: back up your data before doing this!) Use Start -> cmd -> convert (Driveletter): /FS:NTFS. For example, for the C: drive, I would type in “convert C: /FS:NTFS” and pray for the best. You can convert any FAT drive to NTFS, but you cannot perform the reverse operation without the assistance of a commercial partioning/formatting program such as PartitionMagic.
