CoolerGuy’s WindTunnel2 Gamer’s Case

Installing all of the PC hardware in this
case was pretty simple. I had plenty of room for all of my drives, cards and the
rest of my goodies, I didn’t have the least bit of trouble hooking up the
"extension" cable and putting it to work. All of the ports worked
without a glitch. Many will agree that this "port" extension idea is a
good one.

As for cooling effect. This case suits my
needs. I have no free irq’s, with so much hardware in my pc, it was sometimes
difficult to keep the temperatures in the "safe zone" The fans in this
unit blow some air, and it was surprising how much noise I did not hear. The low
profile fans are very efficient and I can actually hear the phone ring again! I
was surprised. From hearing it, you would never guess it has that many (5) fans
and flows that much air. Some case modders should take note of this.

For comparison, I took some temps of the
system at idle and after 2 hours of abuse running Q3 and 3dmark2000. Here are
the numbers I came up with. Room ambient temp was about 76F. It gets a little
warm here in Florida. From the graphs, it’s easy to see the case does a fine
job. With only a 7 degree rise on my cpu, and only 4 degree rise in the total
system temp. For temp readings, I used MBM 5.

Idle

After abuse

Good

  • Case is quality constructed with
    quality parts.

  • Good ideas finally put to good use!

  • Front side ports are convenient and
    useful.

  • Keeps it cool.

  • Low noise from 5 fans. 2x92mm and
    3x60mm

Bad

  • No removable motherboard tray.

All in all, this case gets a thumbs up, if
not for just the thought of putting to use  port extensions. The fans are a
plus. And the low noise makes it all even better. And thanks to the UPS guy that
banged up the case. :-(
