Copy And Paste From One Machine To Another

Posted Mar 27, 2009 | by Jason Faulkner

Have you ever had the need to copy text from one machine and then have it available to paste on another computer? If so, there are a variety of ways you can accomplish this such as emailing yourself. However another method is the free “Hey! Paste It” service.

The usage is simple:

  1. Paste text into the box and then submit it.
  2. Make note of the Clip Number you are given at the bottom.
  3. When you want to recall the clip, just type it into the box.

Easy enough. One ‘fun’ thing you can do is type in random clip numbers and see what other people have entered.

Which Of These Traits Applies To YOUR Computing Life?...

I tried it an dwhen I went to retrieve I got some other posting with filthy language. I should have known better. This is too available to idiots who have nothing better to do but play stupid games. Use with caution.

    Some random poking found:

3ah has what you would expect somebody to test with …

4pl has confidential info and shows why I would never use this service.

Thunderbird with gpg and enigmail is the safe way to do this.

Obviously, you shouldn’t post confidential information on this site. I figured that would be… obvious, so I didn’t feel the need to explicitly spell this out.
