Copy Your Windows CD to your Hard Drive

Posted Nov 30, 2004 by David Risley

Sometimes you want to install components or otherwise make changes to Windows and you are prompted for your Windows CD. Its a royal pain to go find your Windows CD, and if you’re anything like me, you put off what you’re doing because its inconvenient to find the CD right then and there. You can get around this inconvenience by simply copying the entire CD to your hard drive. Simply create a directory on your hard drive and copy the entire contents of your Windows CD to that folder. Then, whenever you are prompted for the Windows CD, simply point it over to that folder on your hard drive.
