Create Animated GIFs The Easy Way With Picasion

Even though the GIF is an ancient image format, people primarily use it to create small animated for use in forums, email and things like that. Why? Because it’s the easiest way to create a small animation. While it’s true that PNG can be animated via APNG, the problem is that most browsers don’t even support it (not even Chrome!)

You could use GIMP to make animated GIFs, but that’s a bit time consuming. The super-fast, super-easy way is just to use Picasion instead.

Step 1.

Have at least 2 images ready so you can have at least two frames for your completed animation.

Step 2.

Go to www.picasion.com.

Step 3.

Add in your images:

Step 4.

Click "Create Animation" (it’s below "Size" on the Picasion site).

Step 5.

When the animation appears, click "Save this animation".

That’s it; you’re done.

Here’s a quick example that I made using stock images:

Very easy, and very cool.

Easy enough. I’ve had occasion to make a few complex GIFs before but usually I want to fine tune the timings and such. The app I’ve been using is Easy GIF Animator, which is great, but it’s trialware and I just don’t use it often enough to justify buying it. I’ve probably installed the trial 3 or 4 times in various version and across various builds over the years. If there were a well-featured freeware version of that, that would be boss.
