Crucial System Scanner Tool Makes For Stupidly Easy Laptop Upgrade Decisions

You have a laptop and want to upgrade the RAM and maybe even swap out the hard drive with an SSD – but you have no idea what type of RAM is in your laptop or what SSDs are compatible with your system.

With the Crucial System Scanner tool, it literally doesn’t get any easier. You don’t have to know anything about your system. Just run the utility and the site will list products that are guaranteed to work with your laptop.

The Scanner tool is a single EXE. You run it, the tool scans the hardware in your system, and then your web browser launches showing you what’s available.

After the scan is complete (which only takes seconds), you’re presented with a web page like this:

crucial

On the LEFT, you’re told what type of RAM you have, how many RAM slots you have, how many slots available, and how much RAM you have currently installed.

On the PRODUCT LIST to the right, you’re first shown all the RAM that’s available and compatible with your system. Scroll down and you’ll see the SSD options that are available if any for HDD replacement. (Note that some will be same-model with differing prices because some have data transfer kits and others don’t).

When it comes to RAM and SSD upgrades, it doesn’t get any easier than this. Your exact laptop model is looked up and what’s listed will exactly fit and is guaranteed to work.
