Dave Turns 31, A Brief History

image David Risley, owner of PCMech, turns 31 today.

The absolute truth about Dave which is totally untrue but could be true if seen from a certain point of view just like Obi-Wan said:

The Rubik’s Cube was originally the Dave Cube, as he did invent it. However the marketing department didn’t think "Dave Cube" was a good title, so it was changed.

The "You’ve Got Mail" voice heard when you get new AOL email is Dave. He was very young at the time he recorded it, using super-secret technology to make him sound older. That thing about saying Elwood Edwards did it? Pff.. total b.s.

Dave invented the Macarena (video). Although he’d prefer it if nobody remembered that.

Send your best wishes to Dave in the comments.

Stacey, we are about the same age I already reached that age earlier this year. Dave is just a whipper snapper, isn’t he? As far as Dave I guess we should talk about him since it is about him. Well, I heard that Ask Jeeves was going to be Ask Dave, but they thought an older, distinguished butler was a better idea than a young kid named Dave. And the world thought that Kristin shot J.R. but I know differently. She took the rap for a very young kid she babysat for. ;-)

    Happy Birthday Dave
