I was a hardcore Pidgin user for all my instant messaging stuff but I recently discovered Digsby. I liked it so much that I switched! See video below on why I like it so much.

I was using pidgin for managing my IM contacts.
But this one is awesome.
Although, the poor documentation is a drawback, considering the extent of features that it offer, I think it is worth using, esp the connection with twitter.
