Many times when doing technical support, I have found that some functionality can be erratic or broken simply because DLL registrations are not correct. Typically, to find the problem I would have to manually unregister and register the DLL by using the ‘regsvr32′ command.
A simpler way to go about this is by using the Emsa Register Dll Tool. This free utility allows you to simply right click on a DLL file and either register or unregister the file with a mouse click. Additionally, you can view extensive information about the components registered on your system so, if you want, you can get an idea of what every file does.
If you work with system files a lot, this is a great utility to have around.
