Ever been typing something in a Word Processor or in an IM chat window, and then had another IM window or error message suddenly pop up? Ever got annoyed that instead of typing where you were just a second ago, you’re now typing in that new IM window, or nowhere at all?
Here’s a useful tip to keep that from happening. First, download and install Microsoft’s Tweak UI program here: [http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe]
Next, under the “General” category located in the left-hand panel, click on the “Focus” category. Check the option that reads “Prevent applications from stealing focus”. Hit “Apply” and OK. This should stop most programs outside of the current program you’re using from stealing window focus.
