Not long ago I issued a tip that talked about Microsoft’s new AntiSpyware utility. To download it, though, Microsoft asks you to validate your copy of Windows. Now, the validation process is currently optional, but the idea is to validate your copy of Windows as legitimate by looking up the serial number. Eventually, all versions of Windows will be required to be validated by Microsoft, but at this time it is totally optional. So, when going to download this program, if you don’t want to go through this process, note that, when prompted for validation, a group of radio buttons should appear. Click “No, do not validate Windows at this time, but take me to the download.” This way you can try out the product without going through a potentially time-consuming process.
