Dot-Info Domains For a Buck

Posted Jan 13, 2008 by Rich Menga

Note before starting this one: PCMech.com receives no perks from this. This is just us passing on the savings to you.

Dotster, my all-time favorite domain registrar, is have a promotion right now where you can get 1-year dot-info domain registrations for 99¢. So everyone is aware, I have bought 99-cent dot-info domains from Dotster before. There are no catches, no strings, no obligations. You can literally register dot-info domains for a buck and host them wherever you want. This isn’t one of those things where it’s "only a buck if you buy [this], [that] or [the other thing]". It’s a true-blue 99-cent purchase.

If you were thinking about buying a domain of your own, this is the absolute cheapest way to do it by getting a www.your_name.info.

If you already have a domain and want another for whatever reason, go ahead and grab one or two.

In order to get a dot-info for 99 cents, you have to enter a coupon code in the checkout process. It’s plainly marked where to do it.

The coupon code is 99INFODOT

This code is valid until January 20th 2008.

And in case you’re wondering, there is no limit to how many domains you can register. If you want to register 10 of them (why I don’t know), it’s 10 bucks. Register 20, it’s 20 bucks. You get the idea.

I bought two domain names but when I tried to add it to my blog I found out I need to purchase a DNS service for $10 in order to make it work for my blog.I probably should have done my homework first. I was kind of disappointed.

Depends where you host the domain; hosting is rarely free. The dot-info domain registration itself is a true-blue 99 cents, but to have it hosted somewhere (be it a blog or traditional hosting) almost always has a hosting fee attached to it.
