Now that Office 2010 is here and after using Office 2007 for a couple of years now, I have to say that I really prefer the ribbon interface over the old menu driven one. However, sometimes I still have a hard time finding function I need in the ribbon as “translated” from the menu. Thankfully, there are a couple of helpers for situations like this:
- Microsoft Office Ribbon Helper – Even MS knows this is not a seamless transition and offers a few tools which come in handy.
- UBitMenu (which I have written about before) adds a tab to the ribbon with all the menus from the previous release. This tool does not really help you find the “translation”, but is great to have for those seldom used operations.
In my humble opinion, the ribbon interface is a step in the right direction for the Office interface and it looks like it is here to stay. Hopefully these tools will make moving to the new version it a bit easier for you.
