Easily Gather Detailed System Information

At some point or another, you will have the need to analyze your system specs. Be it for a repair, an upgrade or simply because you are curious what you actually have, it is good to be able to easily access this information. While there are lots of tools capable of handling this, one you should take a look at is Speccy.

As with any system spec tool, the details are organized into logical groupings. You can find out everything from hard drive size to memory slots used (and available) to your graphic card model.

A couple of examples presented in their descriptions give pretty good real world uses for “average” users:

If you need to add more memory to your system, for example, you can check how many memory slots your computer has and what memory’s already installed. Then you can go out and buy the right type of memory to add on or replace what you’ve already got.

If you’re going to be selling your PC, you can use Speccy to quickly list out the components. Or, if you’re buying a PC, you can use Speccy to check that the computer has what the label says it has.

Even though Speccy is still officially in beta (which doesn’t seem to mean much anymore), it is from the makers of CCleaner which is a highly reputable product. It is a free download, so you have nothing to lose by trying it.

I like it. Its a nice simple layout and easy to use with lots of detail. Whats most glaringly missing is what software is installed on your system. Belarc. is good for that though.

    Thanks Jason!
