Whenever you are troubleshooting issues within Windows, the Event Viewer is an incredibly helpful resource as it contains system level information of events and errors on the system. When working with the Event Viewer, however, you have to constantly refresh it in order to see the most recent entries which can be annoying when you are actively troubleshooting an issue. So if you want to view events in real time then check out the NirSoft utility: MyEventViewer.
MyEventViewer utility has a new ‘Auto Refresh’ feature that allows you to watch newly created events at the moment they are created, without the need to refresh the events list.
You can activate the ‘Auto Refresh’ mode from ‘Auto Refresh’ option under the Options menu, as displayed in the following screenshot. You can choose to check for new events every 1, 3, 5, or 10 seconds.
This may seem like an insignificant feature, but having the ability to view all event logs in real time is awesome. Combine that with filtering capabilities and you have a utility that every system administrator can use.
