Instead of going through the hassle of setting up an FTP server on your PC just to send files to your home computer, try simply emailing them to yourself.

With many web mail services offering the ability to send files upwards of 10 megabytes, I often email files to myself and then download them from my email at remote computers. This removes any worries about firewall settings, having to install FTP clients on the machines you want to send from, and setting proper security on an FTP server. Not to mention, it’s much faster just to type your email in the “to” field!
