Windows users are aware of Windows Update which delivers updates to the Windows Operating System, but did you know there is an add-on called Microsoft Update which delivers updates to Microsoft Office, Live Essentials and other MS products through Windows Update?
The Windows Update Web site provides security updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems. The Microsoft Update Web site provides these updates in addition to updates for other Microsoft programs, such as Microsoft Office. By default, your Microsoft Windows 2000-based, Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based or Microsoft Windows XP-based computer will access the Windows Update Web site. If you would like to receive updates for other Microsoft programs please perform the steps that are listed below.
This a great feature to enable since it is truly an automated way to keep your MS products up to date. Additionally, if this is enabled on Windows Server, you will receive updates to SQL Server, Exchange, SBS and other server products. By default it is enabled on Windows Vista and higher, so you are running XP or Server 2003, you might want to consider enabling this.
