This isn’t exactly the most secure thing to do (as anyone who turns on your computer can easily get access to all your stuff), however there are those out there who prefer their computer to be as “automatic” as possible.

Many people who run Windows XP have no password set on their account. Dumb? Yes. But people do it anyway.

You can have Ubuntu do the same thing if you like. This is done by going to System, then Administration then Login Window.

After that you click the Security tab. You’ll see something similar to this:

You can check off Enable Automatic Login, choose your username from the drop-down menu and that’s it.

On next boot and every boot after that it will perform an auto-login using the username you selected unless you go back here and disable it.
