Export Your Firefox Passwords

Firefox has nice built in password management features, however the one thing it is missing is the ability to export your saved information. Doing so is a nice way to get these entries into a password manager program. To add this ability to Firefox, check out the appropriately named Password Exporter add-on.

This extension allows you to export your saved passwords and disabled login hosts using XML or CSV files that can be imported in another browser or computer.

This is the functionality you would expect: simple and effective. Just make sure you do not keep the export files sitting around as the data is stored in plain text. When you are done with these files, be sure to permanently delete them.

I don’t think Firefox password management is a good and secure solution at all. Anyone who has access to your PC has access to all of the passwords and your accounts. I can recommend the real password management applications. For example Sticky Password is a good one and really secure one. Integrated into browser.

It’s right, that storing passwords in Firefox or any other browser is not secure. I use Handy Password manager to keep passwords. They are in encrypted database, which is quite secure, and I don’t have to remember passwords or write down on a paper, you knowthey can get lost easily. If you use strong passwords like I do, which usually hard not only to break, but also to remember, the only way to remember them is to use special software.
