Extended Copy Functions For Firefox And Internet Explorer

One of the most annoying things about copy-pasting text from the web is, unless you paste the text into a text editor first, the formatting typically comes across into your destination. This is no longer a problem with the Extended Copy Menu extension.

Once installed (there is a version for both Firefox and IE), when you highlight text you can copy like normal or you can just copy the plain text or the HTML behind what you selected. Easy and extremely useful. There are very few extensions I would label a must have, but this definitely one.

Sorry the solution does not work with FF running on an iMac, Leopard. If I use any of the commands to copy a picture into an e-mail all I get is the text. Works with Safari but not with FF or IE.

I’ve tested both extensions in Vista and they work… sorry I don’t have a Mac to test it on.

I’ve been using “paste special” in Word and Excel for years to allow me these options – sometimes plain text works best, sometimes keeping the formatting. I do not see what I would be gaining with this extension and all I need is another seldom used extension hogging resources, loading and running in the background.

I do copy-paste so much for use in emails that is it really a bother for me to have to go to Edit > Paste Special > Unformatted Text instead of just using Ctrl+V. I know this annoys many of the people I work with as well because if you don’t do the above action you have to go back and reformat all the text to be consistent.
It’s all personal preference, but If you seldom use copy-paste by all means skip this one.
