Finally, A Good Alternative To YouTube – MoonTube

image Online video sharing isn’t what it used to be, that’s for sure. The choices for alternative places to post your videos are getting a bit on the slim side.

Before talking about MoonTube, here are a few other YouTube alternatives:

Vimeo – Still one of the best alternatives. Had a very good interface and always loads quick.

Dailymotion – This has been on the internet almost just as long as YouTube, and is a sound alternative, but their interface does take getting used to.

ZippCast – A relative newcomer to the scene, purposely designed to be how YouTube once was. Periodically has server issues, but the admins there are actively working on that.

Facebook – Love it or hate it, Facebook does make it easy to post videos and share them.

How did I find MoonTube?

Ironically, on a Google YouTube support forum of all places. Specifically, this thread posted in January of last year.

Google as of late has been doing some weird, wacky things with the YouTube site as they periodically do, and when they try to push an update across their entire video network, the entire site slows down to a crawl. Some videos load lightning quick while others load annoying slow, or not at all.

It is safe to say that if you’ve had a problem recently loading YouTube videos, it’s most likely not your internet connection’s fault. The problems described in the linked thread above are still happening.

I was willing to give MoonTube a try, so I got myself a profile, uploaded a test video, then asked my Facebook audience if there was any noticeable speed difference concerning video load time. My audience ranges from all over the globe, so I figured it would be a good test.

Almost everyone said MoonTube was faster.

This gave me a sense of relief because I seriously thought there was something wrong with my internet connection concerning YouTube. Nope. YouTube is just being really slow lately.

If YouTube slowness had got you down, or you were just looking for an alternative that’s genuinely good and easy to use, I suggest giving MoonTube a try.

Oh, and a bonus – with MoonTube you can also upload pictures and MP3s too, and have them all on one profile. Pretty cool, eh?
