Honestly said I wasn’t all that excited about FF3 but decided to go ahead and download it anyway.
There were only 2 things I wanted to know about this release:
- Did they (Mozilla) fix that oh-so-stupid memory leak?
- Did the zoom improve?
Per no. 1, I can tentatively say yes. I’m noticing it’s not eating up as much resource as version 2 did. And hopefully the mem usage will stay down like it’s supposed to.
Per no. 2, I can absolutely say yes.
Here’s an example using YouTube:
Looks ordinarily, right? Wrong. This is YouTube zoomed in several times on a full-screen 1680×1050 monitor. And it looks perfect. This is how zoom is SUPPOSED to work. FF3 has now nipped this in the bud (thank God).
Foxmarks works just fine in FF3 and the one other plugin I use carried over okay as well, so no complaints.
I like it and recommend you get it if you like FF.

What version of FF were you using before? Version 2 or the version 3 beta releases?
I’m currently on FF 3 beta 4 and the zoom is fine- no issues?!
Enlarges pictures like it should and works great!
I was on FF2 and I never liked the zoom on it because it didn’t do it as well as Opera or IE7 did. But now FF3 is definitely on par (and beyond).
I agree that the zoom is great. I switched over to FF when v3 betas came out so I’m unfamiliar with v2.
Got stuck in a rut where you stick with what you know best
I like the zoom feature, it helps with the aging eye sight…
Many thanks for the no-nonsense reviews.
I particularly appreciate the terse and to-the-point delivery of new technology’s value and usage.
It seems that you folks still value the KISS system?
Value isn’t just a word.
All the best:
Daniel B.
My FF3 accumulates tabs as I open new bookmarks. This is a new problem and I don’t know how to get it to “replace” tabs when I open a new set … any thoughts? thanks
FF3 is way better than FF2, in functionality and looks.
