Flash, QuickTime in Ubuntu 7.10

Dennis over at CNET Blogs posted a sorta/kinda tutorial on how to get Flash and QuickTime presentations to actually play in Ubuntu 7.10.

This article, much like many others on that OS, mention something all-too-familiar to Ubuntu users, the "restricted extras". This is the stuff Ubuntu users install to do things taken for granted in Windows and OS X.

If you happen to be new to Ubuntu and are scratching your head wondering why you can’t play MP3, MPEG, Flash and other multimedia-specific stuff, the restricted extras package is your best friend. Even with that package installed you may encounter a few stumbles along with the way, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Dennis, like many other new-to-Ubuntu users is encountering glitches here and there getting certain things to work correctly, but I give him credit for fighting the good fight with Linux. He is making progress and gives good insight on the good and the bad with Ubuntu.
