My favorite weather web site is Weather Underground. I’ve tried many different weather sites over the years and I always go back to these guys. The way in which the site is presented just makes sense. And the fact they include PWS (personal weather stations) in addition to MADIS is just plain cool, because anyone can register a PWS with Weather Underground.
Speaking of which, a new feature they just introduced is the WunderMap. It’s a combination of Google Maps, PWS and MADIS observatory stations.
My opinion: It rocks.
There’s no desktop widget or other weather web site that comes even close to this. Not this good, anyway.
Here’s a WunderMap of Tampa Florida.
You’ll see green circles with temperature readings on them. All of them are clickable.
Even cooler: If you hover over the stations (the text-based list) on the right, it highlights the station on the map.
Yeah. Nice. I dig it.
To see a WunderMap for your location, head to www.wunderground.com, punch in your location (by ZIP code or Town, State) and look for the WunderMap link.
I give this a huge thumbs up.
Did I mention it also shows radar on it? ![]()
