Free Windows Hosting Control Panel

If you are ever considering testing the web hosting market, unless you service a niche market, you almost have to have a ‘control panel’ available to your users. When you do your research, you will quickly see these are not cheap. If you have several customers already, this is typically not a problem, but if you are starting from ground zero price can be a big factor. If you are running Windows Server based hosting, a package you should take a look at is DotNetPanel Express Edition:

The DNP Express Edition is ideal for VPS and dedicated server owners, home hosting, education and evaluation use. You can manage an unlimited number of domains or websites, install it on three servers with up to five users, and it runs on Windows Server 2008 Web edition. And, best of all, it’s FREE!

DotNetPanel Express Edition offers most of what you would need to get started (check out the features on their page). Of course, the free version is limited in both features and scalability when compared to the enterprise edition, but for small/personal/start up deployments, this can be a great choice.

Great, but what about those of us that manage Linux servers? Perhaps you could cover that next.
