Full Service Online Virus Scanner

There are lots of available online virus/malware scanners out there. I think these are great since it allows you to test your system against a scanner other than the one you have installed (if you even have one installed). Unfortunately, many of them simply detect threats but do not actually remove them from your system. On the other hand, Windows Line OneCare is a full service online scanner.

Windows Live OneCare safety scanner is a free service designed to help ensure the health of your PC.

  • Check for and remove viruses
  • Get rid of junk on your hard disk
  • Improve your PC’s performance

This is a great resource to have for obvious reasons. Of course, if you do use anti-virus software, this is not a replacement since it does not provide real-time protection.

  1. Typo – Windows Line OneCare

  2. It is rather good in that it does the buisiness in a total way; but the detection rates for viruses and other malware with regard to it reputedly leave something to be desired. I’m not sure exactly how accurate the reports I’ve seen over time are. Personally I’ve nothing bad to say about it; although I did once get a false positive from it last year. (2008)

Tried to run the program but it is not set up for Vista. They have a beta version, but I couldn’t get it to run. Obviously they are working on a Vista version. Maybe someone else may have better luch getting it to run.
