The last time I saw Garmin put out a Superbowl commercial it was Maposaurus. To be honest I wasn’t too enthused about it. I understand they were going for something different but it just didn’t work.
Superbowl commercials are not about selling products, but rather just having a presence on a huge telecast. As such, it’s totally okay to go a little (or a lot) batty with the presentation. But Maposaurus was just too "out there" if you catch my meaning.
However, Garmin did way better this year.
You can see what they’ve cooked up here:

I suggest looking at the 60-second spot.
This is about, oh, a million times better than Maposaurus because it actually shows a Garmin GPS in use. The use of a French setting really works (you can see the Eiffel Tower in one spot), the ska-like soundtrack rocks and everything is 100% better about this one.
I also seriously dig the fact Garmin purposely uses older cars in just about every single television spot they’ve ever made. This one uses a way-cool small red European roadster (although I couldn’t tell you what kind of car it is) and it totally works.
Dare I say, it makes me feel "cool" to own a Garmin mobile GPS.
