Get Rid of Choppy Video in Joost

Joost is cool but there are times when the connectivity is spotty/choppy. At present there is unfortunately no way to adjust bandwidth settings in the client itself, but there is if you manually edit a specific file.

In Windows XP, the file is located here and must be edited with a text editor such as Windows Notepad.

C:\Program Files\Joost\defaults\preferences\tvp-prefs.js

You will be looking for the line which states:

pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server",5);

If you are unable to locate this line, just search for max-persistent in the tvp-prefs.js file until you find it.

Change 5 to 24.

Save the file. Note: It’s recommended you save a backup of the file just in case.

Restart Joost.

If that doesn’t work, try 50 instead of 24.

Doing this has decreased choppy video in Joost dramatically for me. It might work for you too. I don’t guarantee it will work but it’s worth a shot.
